ABOUT
Artist bio : Jared Clark
Born in Cleveland, Ohio a lifelong artist Jared has been making art since he could hold a pencil. He began drawing at the age of four and learned the basics of painting from his father Robert Gaines. Jared’s father taught him to use art as an escape from the sometimes harsh environment of Cleveland’s east side. Through art he learned to see the world beyond his small inner-city neighborhood. On Sunday mornings amidst the sounds of miles Davis and Wes Montgomery and john Coltrane Jared would sit while his father painted with his sketch pad and draw creating characters that more often than not reflected his feelings.
It was in 2003 when Jared’s father was diagnosed with kidney disease that Jared began to paint as a means to be closer to his father. In 2004 his father was told he needed a kidney transplant or he would have to undergo dialysis treatment so in May 2005 Jared donated his kidney to his father and his artistic journey began. In 2006 Jared began working for a friend in a small production company doing set design on an internet sports show and later had the opportunity to work with Otis salid on his production of Gospel gospel gospel at Cleveland’s famed karamu house. Jared entered collage soon after attending the University of Akron for graphic art and design. In 2009 Jared moved to Tucson Arizona and met his wife Gabriela Rodríguez Clark a year later. After several successful exhibitions Jared was asked to be one of the feature artists at the Mexican independence celebration by the consulate of Mexico in Tucson. Soon after Jared co-founded Art making a difference a group of artist and musicians dedicated to using the arts to raise money for charitable causes.
